Hello, My Loves!
We’re back with another edition of “Social Tips for a Lazy Bitch”! Let’s keep it simple and dive straight into the next tip!
BE STRATEGIC WITH YOUR SOCIALS.
Now, a lot of people would say that when you start your channel, you must be active on all socials in order to really grow. I disagree. These tips are specifically for those wanting to grow on YouTube, but you can substitute YouTube with almost any social media site, and most of these facts will remain the same.
If you are a content creator trying to make money from YouTube, the goal is to get as many people as possible to know your channel exists, watch your videos, and subscribe. So, for any beginner, I would suggest having your YouTube channel and only one other social media site—preferably one that supports evergreen content—as a tool to let people know your channel exists. Some great options would be Substack, Pinterest, and TikTok. The rest of your socials can be populated once you grow your following, which can then be funneled to Instagram or any other platform once they engage with your content.
In my case, I had a YouTube channel and a TikTok. I would not be anywhere close to where I am subscriber-wise without my TikTok. At the time I am writing this, TikTok is the fastest-growing social media platform. The whole point is to get your videos in front of new eyes so they can vibe with the content and be funneled to your core platform, which is your YouTube channel.
One viral TikTok video monetized my entire YouTube channel. Another one got me to over 8K subscribers in less than a year. As a beginner, trying to show up as your best on all socials at once while also trying to find your creator voice is an impossible task and will no doubt lead to burnout.
Love,
The Swan
