February Hyper-Fixations
These are the things I have been obsessed with for the past month (Better late then never)
The month of February was full of so many high moments one of my best months in a long time. As I have discussed before when I burnt myself out back in June 2023 and took 8 months off from posting I was always extremely nervous about starting to post again. It took mountains of confidence building for me to start posting the first time. Despite what you may think I am extremely shy, especially in environments that I am not comfortable in. So to have built that confidence and then burn myself out and have to build it back up again was a journey. Lots of reassurance…..Lots of quitting and starting again…Lots of weird misplaced embarrassment. But on the 29th of February, yes on a leap year, the BLACKEST day of the year I dropped Bloodstained.
It felt amazing, and I got so much love from the people in my life that support me. I also celebrate 6 years with the LOVE OF MY LIFE and we had a nice getaway together. I will put a quick video of that trip below!
Anyways onward and upward, here are my February Hyperfixations!
Life: Positive Vibes Only
-We are doing great, as I just recapped above February was a good month for me. I felt a lot of love from my community and that was a very healing way to head into month 2 of the New Year. I am back in the saddle and it’s fucking personal, I want to focus on my growth, my passions, and the people that love me.
Health: Booking Doctors Appointments
-Girl I NEED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR. I need new glasses, I need to see the dentist I have been slacking in this part of my life and it’s time that I get it together. I used to LOVE the doctor but lately I have been having some anxiety about it. Honestly it’s really because I don’t love seeing my weight go up on the scale…….But I have made a commitment to myself this year and I just need to get a clean bill of health and stop procrastinating, health is not promised and being better to my body means being proactive about my health.
Food: Jack-N-Box is the GOAT and should be treated as such
-Now I know a lot of people will have their personal opinions about their fave fast food place, some universal, others regional, but Jack-N-The Box should be up there with some of the greats. First of all their menu is so random and it is always changing, like why do they have a teriyaki bowl? and why is it bomb? They are always trying to win you over and you have got to respect the effort. But this post is really about the most elite sandwich there is the….. Sourdough Jack with bacon and Swiss cheese, no tomato. Just try it and thank me later, plus curly fries on the side with their amazing ranch….I promise you its the best.
Music: They are Classic’s for a Reason!
-I have been absolutely obsessed with Janet Jackson’s the Velvet Rope Album. First of all this album is truly the soundtrack of my childhood, my dad was an Audiophile, (i know unfortunate name), well he still is but when I was growing up he had an insane speaker system. We grew up in Ameba and Tower Records, my childhood had an incredible playlist, maybe I’ll make one on Spotify one of these days. This album is just one of those ones that was played A LOT. As I grew up and started needing the family computer to write little 5-paragraph essays I would listen to my dad’s iTunes while I worked. THIS IS THE ALBUM I WOULD PULL UP EVERYTIME!!! I would just let it play and write my essays. Bring back physical media, bring back family computers, bring back 2007!
Podcast: (Mine Duh!)
- It would be INSANE of me to not shout out my podcast Bloodstained that dropped on 2.29.2024 for this months podcast section. Not only did I spend a ton of time on it but I think its good. Feel free to check out Episode 0: “Why are Black People so Mad?” below. Let me know if you love it!
Movies: Early Tyler Perry…Iconic
-Recently been on a Tyler Perry kick, there is something very comforting about the humor and the heavy handed Christianity . I feel safe in that environment. I recommend “Diary of a Mad Black Women” just rewatch it and tell me you didn’t love it. I dare you.
See you next month my Darlings, thanks for listening.
